Basic WoW Cooking Guide
WoW cooking guide gives another dimension to the game of World of Warcraft. Cooking is one of the secondary trade skills performed by different classes in WoW. Some of the classes that benefit from cooking are ranged, melee, tanks, healers, and spell damage. However, new recipes are accessible in Northrend and Outland for everyone.
Why cook food if you can buy it from merchants? Food is essential to the game to provide extra healing to WoW characters injured during battles and provide additional buffs such as strength, agility, or stamina. Cooking can also entertain players with strange and unorthodox dishes never been prepared before. See its effects after it has been gobbled by players.
The process for cooking food needs three essential elements such as a recipe, food ingredients, and heat. There are several cooking trainers in all of the capital cities and minor cities who offer different cooking recipes. Ingredients may come from meat of beasts or fish in Azeroth.
However, there are recipes that require additional ingredients such as Mild Spices, Refreshing Spring Water, and other items which can be purchased from cooking vendors, fish suppliers, and trade good suppliers.
But, as of Pacth 3.1, most recipes have been simplified and no longer need supplemental ingredients. A cooking fire gives heat to cook food and some of these sources include a stove, campfire, brazier, or a fireplace. Forges are not use for cooking.
This WoW cooking guide summarizes the different cooking skills that every player must learn and train for every level in order to level up this secondary skill. Every moment that a player prepares a new food, a cooking skill point will be earned.
Gaining a cooking skill point can be determined based on the indicated color codes in the cooking window/menu. A red means a higher skill level in cooking is needed to create the dish.
Orange assures that the dish will gain a cooking skill point. Yellow denotes the dish will most probably receive a cooking skill point. Green imply that the food item will unlikely receive a skill point, and the color Gray will not gain any increase.
After accumulating cooking skill points, the player will visit a cooking trainer to learn or train more in advanced cooking skills. There are six levels of cooking skills to be learned by a WoW player as indicated in this WoW cooking guide.
The Apprentice level (level 1–75) can be learned from any trainer in the major cities of old Azeroth. Basic cooking of bread and meat are prepared in this level. As the player reach level 75, a cooking trainer must be visited to learn Journeyman cooking. In Journeyman cooking level (level 76–150), the player should go to Ashenvale, and travel to the Zoram Strand to train for this cooking skill.
Expert cooking (level 151-225) can only be learned by purchasing a special book entitled “Expert Book”. The Expert Cookbook can be purchased by Alliance chefs from Shandrina in Ashenvale. Horde chefs can buy this book from Wulan in Desolace for a price of 1 gold. To learn Artisan cooking (level 226-300), a quest chain should be completed first to get the cooking recipe.
The player must obtain a desert recipe, and sharing the knowledge quest to get the cooking recipe. There are more advanced levels of cooking for WoW like the Cooking Master (level 300-350) and Cooking Grand Master (level 351-450) as explained in the more comprehensive WoW cooking guide.
