Have you looked in the sale papers for a PS3? The demand is keeping the price high. It can sometimes be frustrating if you’re on a tight budget.
I know how you feel! The justifcation for the purchase may have been difficult in the beginning but there was plenty of it in the end. To start building a PS3 fund I thought I would begin by selling my old PS2 games. I’ve given serious thought to cleaning out my closet, trying to find some of those old jeans that now seem to be in fashion and see if I could sell them on eBay. I’ve even gone through my garage looking for tools that I don’t use to sell them online. We even put our stuff in a neighborhood sale to come up with the funds to buy a PS3. It netted me $52. By the way, garage sales will not get you the most money! eBay is a much better way to go as you’ll net more profits.
I’ve been there before. You seem to get so much more from the PS3 than from the Xbox or Wii. I was sold when I found it was Blu-Ray. Obviously, the games are awesome in HD and I just upgraded my Netflix membership to include Blu-Ray/HD movies as well. That’s a hard-sell to the wife! If you’re not already hooked on HD it only takes 1 day of having it in your house and you’ll never go back. I had won her over on every point exept the price.
I’ve been digging around for a while and I’ve discovered that to get the best price on the best game system that plays Blu-Ray you can’t get a better value than with a PS3. Even when it’s not on sale! You can buy a Blu-Ray DVD player for your movies but it will not play PS3 games. While XBox does offer HD it is not the preferred format. The real issue is getting a PS3, if at all possible, at a discount.
I searched on eBay and some other traditional auction sites and found that there really aren’t any PS3 Sale Prices out there. You have to get a bundle with the console, games and accessories that costs way more than just buying a console outright. When I’m trying to spend as little money as possible this just doesn’t work for me.
I had to get creative with my thinking and break away from the herd. I began looking into unique bid auction sites. There are a few decent ones out there but the one that stands out to me is www.auctions4acause.com. The selection they have for affordable items is far superior to the other sites. You’ll find cars, boats and vacations on the other sites. That’s fine and dandy but I just want the console!
Once I found that site I knew I had what I was looking for. They had the item I wanted and it was possible for me to get it very cheap. I quickly setup an account on the site. I made 3 entries and hoped I had outsmarted the other bidders. Wouldn’t you know it, I didn’t win the first time. I waited a week before another one came available to bid on. I placed 3 more bids on it and crossed my fingers and waited. Bingo! This time I had a winner. About 6 days later I was unpacking the new PS3. All I had spent on it was $59.64. Not bad, huh?
It can take a few minutes of reading to truly grasp the concept of the lowest unique bid auction style. Once you get a handle on the concept you may not want to stop. Since that time that I won the PS3 I’ve bid on and won 3 other items including an iPod Nano (they have the best iPod Prices) and $400 gas card. In total I’ve spent about $350 there and won over $1,200 worth of stuff.
I wouldn’t suggest the big box stores to find the best prices. Go register at Auctions4aCause and get a great deal.
