Gatherer will keep record of the herbs picked up by any of your party or guild members who have installed the same add-on.

With Herbalism you will get an ability called Lifeblood. This ability is instant, costs no mana and it can heal you about 3600 over 5 seconds. Lifeblood has a 3 minute cooldown. While leveling, this ability can come in handy especially for classes without any healing abilities.

Also, you will be saving considerable amounts of gold on flasks, elixirs and potions. Since these are a necessity you can choose to make your own or sell the stacks of herbs on the AH for a nice amount of gold.
