For Gamers: Popups and Spyware Protection? Why Users Should Not Just Rely on the Google and MSN Toolbars!

Thursday, October 22nd, 2009

This article exposes the limitations of the most common and often free ways to prevent and eliminate popups in the wider context of adware and spyware protection.

Adware is a popular term to describe any software which can play, display or download advertisements on computers. Some adware are also known as spyware because they invade the users’ privacy by obtaining then sharing some of their personal information without their knowledge.

Adware popups have become a common irritation for most users and many are now looking for free ways to disable them. Many users do not think twice before relying on the free popup blocking functionality provided by the Google or MSN toolbar. Most users do not realise the link between popups and spyware, very few take the right steps to protect themselves and the majority of users concentrate on just blocking popup ads. The fact remains, that both the removal of adware and spyware as well as their prevention are necessary to protect the users privacy, safeguard the integrity of their computers and achieve a pleasant user experience on line. This contrasts with just blocking popups, which simply creates a false sense of security. This is the consequence of the most serious problem with popups: Popups are not just “irritating”, they are symptomatic of spyware infection. This is also evidenced by popups appearing when users are not even on line.

Changing the browser settings is free and a step in the right direction

Blocking adware popups whilst browsing is easy enough. Changing the privacy settings so that popups can no longer appear on screen can be done as follows:

·      Select Control Panel in your computer

·      Click on the Internet Options icon

·      Click on the Privacy tab.

·      There is a box next to “Turn on Pop Up Blocker”.

·      Tick this box and you will block adware popups.

Once the settings have been changed, users should adjust the privacy levels on their computer. Another solution is to use the Google or MSN toolbar. Security when browsing the Internet can be improved when using these toolbars. For more information, click on free popup blockers.

But, what about achieving complete protection? Are most users seeing the bigger picture?

Unfortunately most users focus on just blocking adware popups, and forget that their computer is probably already infected with adware and spyware. The popup blockers offered by Google and MSN are clearly useful, yet only deal with one aspect of privacy and system integrity protection. For more information click on block spyware.

It is highly recommended at this point to think more broadly on how to protect the users privacy, and computer integrity from spyware and other adware. In addition to running an anti-virus software that is up to date, users should remove the spyware and adware on their computer. Often adware and spyware are downloaded without the users’ knowledge.

Typically, the removal of adware and spyware is easily achieved with the most popular adware and spyware removal tools which can also block popups. The most popular adware and spyware removal programs are constantly being kept up to date as they rely on research teams to update the software in order to deal with the latest threats as they first occur. Adware and spyware removal software can also block malicious programs . This approach is therefore more effective than the reliance on free popup blockers. For more information click on adware spyware removal.

Gamers! How to fix a slow computer in less than 15 minutes

There are many ways to speed up computers and improve their performance, this article covers simple steps that anyone can follow. Implementing step 1 or step 2 should take no more than 15 minutes and will work for both PC and Mac users.

Step 1 -  Clean the computer registry

Slow computers often have errors in their registry. One of the main functions of the registry is to connect software, hardware and computer files. For this reason the registry is often referred to as the computer’s nervous system. Typically the computer registry becomes more prone to errors over time, is frequently corrupted, and this slows down the computer. A simple step is therefore to locate then fix registry errors. Users could in theory attempt to cleanup the registry manually, however this method is not recommended as it requires deep knowledge of both the structure of the registry and its functions. Registry cleaner software are a faster, more reliable alternative to remove errors, unused file, poor links and deal with ActiveX components. Click on compare registry fix software for more information.

Step 2 – Delete and block adware and spyware

Another common reason leading to computers slowing-down, is the large number of spyware and adware, which are downloaded from the Internet, often without the users knowledge. Often, this takes place when peer to peer (P2P) networks are used to download videos and music for example. One of the simplest solutions to improve any computer’s speed is to use an anti spyware or adware software to scan, remove and block these unwanted threats. In order to try out the right anti spyware or adware program, it is preferable to use a trial version which is usually free. The main features to consider are Ease of Download and Simplicity of Use, Automatic Backup, Quality of Customer Service, and the overall effectiveness of the software. The best software tend to be the simplest to use and rely on a research capability that constantly updates the software for new threats. Click on best adware spyware removal for more information.

Step 3 – Eliminate viruses

Unsurprisingly many computer viruses can slow down computers and drive down response times. Computer viruses must be deleted for two reasons, firstly they often damage files, secondly they tend to waste memory and disk space. In order to overcome these problems, as well as optimise performance, users should run the latest version of the best anti-virus programs. In the end, they will also be in a stronger position to improve their computer performance.

Step 4 – Simple housekeeping tasks

There are many simple housekeeping tasks which can be done to improve the speed of any computer, for example uninstalling any software that is not needed.  Another simple step to improve computer speed is to stop programs launching automatically. Marginal improvements usually result from these simple tasks.

Step 5 – Optimise the Hard disk

For hard disks which are smaller than 2GB then at least 200MB of disk should be kept free and at least 500MB for larger hard disks. Computer speed also depend on the free space on the hard disk, as temporary files are placed there by computer software. This also enables the operating system to swap files using the hard disk as it runs out of RAM. In that event, unless sufficient  space is free on the hard disk, the system slows down significantly. Disk scanning programs such as Scandisk for Windows help scan for errors on the hard disk itself. For instance whilst some hard disks may be large enough, they may be too fragmented with some sectors being unusable. Defragmenting the hard disk is another action, which will improve the response time of any computer.

Step 6 – Optimising the RAM

Some programs are poorly designed and do not release RAM resources after they are closed. This adversely impacts the RAM available for other programs. Computers frequently run out of RAM after a while. In order to overcome this, ugrading the RAM is probably necessary. An alternative free option is simply to not run some computer programs at the same time as each other.

Step 7 – Stop the computer from overheating

Faulty fans are a common cause leading to the computer overheating, slowing down then freezing as a result. Installing a new fan is the best solution to overcome this problem, as this increases the air flow through the computer thereby reducing the machine’s temperature and improving its performance.

There are many ways to speed up computers and improve their performance, this article covers simple steps that anyone can follow. PC or Mac users should be able to implement either of the first two steps in this article in less than 15 minutes.

Step 1 -  Clean the computer registry

Slow computers often have errors in their registry. The registry is comparable to a nervous system. Its main function is to connect software hardware and computer files. Over time, errors occur and this slows down computers, frequently their registry become corrupted. Locating then fixing errors in the registry is therefore frequently required. Despite the fact that it is possible to repair the registry manually in theory, this method is not recommended. The main reason for this, is that it requires strong knowledge of the structure of the registry as well as its functions. Registry fix software are a faster, more reliable alternative to correct errors, remove unused files, any incorrect links and deal with ActiveX components. Click on compare registry fix software for more information.

Step 2 – Delete and block adware and spyware

Another common reason leading to computers slowing-down, is the large number of spyware and adware, which are downloaded from the Internet, often without the users knowledge. This usually happens when peer to peer networks are involved, for example when downloading videos and music. In order to try out the right anti spyware or adware program, it is preferable to use a trial version which is usually free. The overall effectiveness of the software is obviously the main feature to consider, however other features are also important such as Ease of Download and Simplicity of Use, Automatic Backup, Quality of Customer Service. The best software tend to be the simplest to use and rely on a research capability that constantly updates the software for new threats. Click on best adware spyware removal for more information.

Step 3 – Eliminate viruses

Unsurprisingly many computer viruses can slow down computers and drive down response times. Computer viruses often damage files, can consume excessive amount of memory and take a large amount of space on the hard disk. Running the latest version of some of the leading anti-virus software should overcome these problems and users who do so will be in a stronger position to improve the performance of their computer.

Step 4 – Simple housekeeping tasks

There are many simple housekeeping tasks which can be done to improve the speed of any computer, for example uninstalling any software that is not needed.  Another tip is to stop programs launching automatically, as this will also improve the speed of the computer. Marginal improvements usually result from these simple tasks.

Computer speed also depend on the free space on the hard disk, as temporary files are placed there by computer software. Defragmenting the hard disk is another action, which will improve the response time of any computer.

Step 6 – Optimising the RAM

Some programs are poorly designed and do not release RAM resources after they are closed. This reduces the RAM which is available for other programs. Running out of RAM too fast is not uncommon and users who have this problem should consider upgrading the memory on their computer. Another free option is to avoid using some computer programs simultaneously.

Step 7 – Stop the computer from overheating

Faulty fans are a common cause leading to the computer overheating, slowing down then freezing as a result. To overcome this problem, replacing the fan is the most pragmatic solution. The effect should be immediate as this will increase the flow of air through the computer, thereby reducing the computer’s temperature and increasing its speed as a result.

Game in Peace! Apply These Four Golden Rules For Adware Annihilation!

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

Adware are an unfortunate nuisance - Adware are computer programs designed to display targetted ads, which can also significantly reduce computer speed. They reduce computer response times by consuming RAM and PCU resources and can also reduce the speed of any internet connection. This article gives four simple rules to eliminate Adware from any computer.

Rule 1: Use Adware remover software - Our recommended solution is simply to use an adware removal software and follow some simple steps to prevent undesirable adware installation on your computer. Adware removal software - free versions can be tried first – Using the free version of any popular adware removal software is usually very easy. This approach makes it easy to establish if a tool responds to your needs and also creates an opportunity to try any user support and customer service. Click on how do I get rid of adware for more information

Rule 2: Avoid P2P- It usually pays to be cautious with the programs you download from the internet. For example it is advisable to stay clear of software which are delivered using Peer to Peer networks (Peer to Peer/ P2P software). Many of these software intrude computers to install adware, (whether or not their publishers would admit to it), and in practice leave computers vulnerable to virus attacks. This is a problem for many users who rely on Peer to Peer networks to share film content and music. You should recognise whether you are likely to use P2P and if so, you should use your adware remover software shortly after any download from a peer to peer network to remove any unwanted adware.

Rule 3: Unprompted email warning - Another good step to follow is to not open emails from unfamiliar sources especially if they contain attachments. Remember, if an email title looks too good to be true then it is probably a scam anyway so hit “Delete” instead of opening it. Click on how to remove spyware for more information

Rule 4: Disable cookies -  Unless you know and trust the site you are browsing, you should disallow cookies. For sure, cookies can make any internet experience more enjoyable by allowing your favorites websites to recognise you. The problem lies with the fact that they also allow adware including spyware, which are designed to steal key information about you and, which could later end up in the wrong hands.

Gamers! How To Fix Computer Errors In 15 Minutes?

Thursday, September 3rd, 2009

This article gives practical advice, in simple steps, to fix many of the most common reasons of computer errors. Readers will usually need to set aside only 15 minutes for each recommendation.

Most Common Computer Errors - Computers have brought dramatic changes in our day to day lives, yet like any machine, they need regular maintenance and upgrade. There are many simple tasks which will fix computer problems and prevent errors.

In the majority of cases, errors exist in the EXE, DLL and driver files. These occur as a result of invalid and corrupt registry entries. These files are important as they create entries in the registry, which are in turn used to operate the computer. If a registry becomes damaged or unstable then the number of random responses and the actual response time increase dramatically.

Run Defragmenter - To begin with, run a disk defragmenter. This operation stores the many parts of the many files on the hard disk closer together and contiguously.Defragmenter use compaction to create large areas of free space on the hard drive and this means that the computer can find information faster with less errors overall.

Registry Scan - In order to fix computer errors in the registry, it is also advisable to complete periodic registry scans, as this enables unwanted data to be detected and subsequently deleted. This operation can be done easily using any popular registry fixing software. There are many advanced registry cleaner software which can perform several registry maintenance tasks, for instance deleting malicious spyware and viruses, scanning and repairing computer errors in the registry, in addition they can perform registry backup as well as defragmenting the registry. Click on fix computer errors for more information.

Remove Spyware and Viruses - Spyware and virus programs create most of the computer errors. Computer viruses are malicious programs which often adversely impact computer performance. This contrasts with spyware, which often copy malevolent software onto the hard disk which are later used to steal confidential information. Often this code is later transmitted for further malicious use. Updating any anti-spyware and antivirus tools is a common sense approach, which anyone can follow in order to fix computer errors. Click on adware and spyware removal for more information.

Fix Boot Sector - Faulty programs, in addition to virus infections can also damage computer boot sectors, and this can prevent the system from booting. Some errors occur when booting up the computer, the most pragmatic step to fix these errors is usually to use the operating system booting CD provided with your computer. For example, most XP users will be able to solve many problems with the Windows XP installation by using the relevant CD.

Upgrade Your RAM - Insufficient memory is another source of errors, which can lead to various computer problems. Some of these problems lead to the computer crashing, the dreaded “blue screen”, system hanging, sudden reboot and even crashing programs. Some computer errors relate to memory, in order to fix these errors, users can use free software that help solve RAM and memory related problems. These programs are easy to use and also grealy improve computer performance. Completing a computer memory test is also highly advisable in that event.

Click on fix registry problems for more information.
