Yes, Resident Evil 5 was released for Xbox 360 in March! It is finally available and you can either buy it, rent it or just check out game info here.

Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 is an energy packed addition to the video game series. The story picks up about 10 years after the events of the original game and centers the game on getting Umbrella Corporation’s bio-weapons back out of the hands of underground terrorist forces.

The decade story gap is spaned by reviewing Chris Redfield’s life as the game is played, where he’s now part of the Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance. He’s sent to the hottest, driest spots in Africa to investigate a possible threat of bio-organic weapons in the area. He meets up with Sheva Alomar, Chris’s hot new partner there, and because of a need in this release for teamwork, their relationship certainly changes how you play the game.

Chris and Sheva set out to try and stop Irving from selling Umbrella Corporation’s bio-organic weapon on the black market, but find that almost all of the locals have been turned into creatures called Majini. The Majini state is the nasty result of the locals ingesting a sick looking parasite. Although tragic, after that happens they are no longer human, but simply ferocious beasts.

Chris, and Sheva constantly at his side must fight their way through these flesh-eating creatures at just about every turn. Sheva … was that my imagination or something moving in the bushes? You’ll be glad you have a partner – and the new graphics and lighting effects are absolutely superb!

The game continues as they find Captain DeChant, the only survivor of Alpha team. DeChant helps them get info on Irving, which sends them on a journey filled with crashes and Majini ambushes that are simply chilling attacks.

Find and loose Irving, discover a weapons test facility, battle a huge beast that turns out to be Irvingafter he injects himself with a virus. Find an underground world, discover where the Progenitor virus laboratory is, along with all the encapsulated human test subjects used to perfect it … and it just keeps getting better.

But be warned. If you’re an avid Resident Evil 1, 2 or 3 fan … and you didn’t like Resident Evil 4, I strongly recommend you try renting before buying. I also recommend looking at game guides, screen shots, video clips and even “how to” information on controller ops as well. It’s certainly available now.

To save you some time, it’s pretty safe to say that the creepiness of RE 1,2 and 3 is no longer present (and some are downright upset about it), but the action almost never stops.

The lonely, 2 bullets left in total darkness with a hopeless feeling of not knowing what’s about to happen has been replaced by super graphics, a dynamite sound track and massive combat at just about every turn. So although it isn’t as creepy as before, it is simply busting with action. And that’s in the brightest sunshine or the deepest of dark. But it is definitely a departure from the original RE1, 2, 3 game series.

The co-op focus of the game makes online play, or with a partner in Xbox 360 split screen mode the best, but hogging the screen all to yourself and allowing AI to control Sheva is still great fun.

Replay? You bet – you’ll want to play the new RE5 release several times most likely. Why? You get to keep your weapons upgrades, treasures and BSAA emblems from one game to the next. If you prefer a more original Resident Evil flavor, replay it in the mercenary mode the second or third time through. It’s even worth a replay as Chris with unlimited Ammo and hot shot weapons!

Bottom line, fun is fun, and in that, I’m in agreement with about 90% of the folks playing the video game right now. Resident Evil 5 Xbox 360 is a must play. Try game rental first if you’re not completely sure, or buy if you are, but either way do try the game – then let me know what you think!
