Tailoring is a profession based on crafting various items from cloth. It is quite easy to level this profession not to mention that it will bring many benefits to the player who chose it as his primary profession.
Since you start at the level 1 cloth will be easy to collect since all humanoid mobs you encounter drop it. One can use cloth to either maximize his First Aid skill or for Tailoring as his primary profession. Click here for more on WoW Tailoring Guide
What can I craft with the Tailoring profession?
Tailoring will offer you a possibility to make a wide range of cloth armor items, gear sets, bags, cloaks, bags for the use in other professions, Embroideries, Spellthreads and a Magnificent Flying Carpet, a unique, Tailors-only flying mount.
Depending on which specialization you choose you will be able to craft an extra special kind of cloth every 4th day – Moonshroud, Spellweave or Ebonweave. With this kind of special cloth you can craft pre-raiding epic armor sets for both damage dealer casters and healers. If you don’t plan to craft any set you can easily sell the cloth on the AH after each cooldown and earn some extra gold.
Raising your Kalu’ak reputation to Revered will allow you to purchase Emerald Bag tailoring pattern. This 32 slot bag is very useful for any Herbalist and therefore you can sell it easily. For the best leveling guide click here: WoW Ultimate Guide
Benefits that come with Tailoring
As you enter Northrend, Tailoring will grant you an ability to gather more cloth. This asset is made possible by ‘Northern Cloth Scavenging’, a passive, Tailors-only ability.
By completing a ‘Northrend Dungeonmaster’ and ‘Loremaster’ achievements, you will be granted 2 new tailoring patterns for epic cloaks – Wispcloak (Northrend Dungeonmaster) and Deathchill Cloak (Loremaster).
Tailors are known for their Spellthreads. These come as a nice stats boost for pants for casters and healers. In order to make these Spellthreads, a Tailor will need to raise his reputation with required faction. Sapphire Spellthread (Kirin Tor exalted) is nice for dps casters because it grants +30 stamina and +50 sp, while Brilliant Spellthread (Argent Crusade exalted) grants +20spirit and +50sp and it is perfect for healers. Still, these requirements are only for those Tailors who wish to sell their Spellthreads to other players on the AH. To create a Spellthread for his own use a Tailor only needs will two Ethernium threads.
A cloak Embroidery is a stats boost for any Tailor. This is perfect for healers or dps casters. Embroidery is similar to a cloak enchant and is therefore particularly useful.
Which classes usually take Tailoring as their main profession?
When it comes to classes, Tailoring is mostly used by the cloth wearers such as Holy or Shadow Priests, Mages and Warclocks. It is not rare that even Balance and Resto Druids take Tailoring as one of their main professions.
Which classes are advised to take Tailoring as their primary profession
In most cases Tailors choose Enchanting as their second profession. These two professions are said to be a perfect match since Tailoring requires some of the Enchanting products such as dust, while cloth products can be easily disenchanted and used as materials for Enchanting. Any of these valuable materials can be used for personal needs or sold to other players. Without Tailoring it will be hard to level up Enchanting, not to mention expensive.
