This WoW warlock guide will endeavor to communicate to you all you need to understand to get started with warlocks. Warlocks are masters of the black arts with the ability to control fire, shadows and demons. They’re skilled necromancers that deal in misery and torment. Though they are unable to stand toe to toe in up close fighting, they easily compensate for it by hurling damaging spells from a distance. A lot of talents require the utilization of soul shards, which a warlock has to acquire by killing enemies. The warlock is easily one of the fastest characters to level and really shines when playing solo. When raiding with a party, warlocks can do huge amounts of damage and should take care not to pull aggro off of the main tank.
Permissible races for the warlock class are restricted to Undead, Orcs, Humans, Gnomes, and Blood Elves. The only kind of armor a warlock can equip is of the cloth variety. For weapons, they are limited to wands, staves, swords and daggers.
There are several demonic minions a warlock can summon including the Voidwalker, Succubus, Infernal, Imp, Felhunter, Felguard, and Doomguard. All of the various minions are useful, but you will need to measure the benefits of using each of them based on the job at hand. Warlocks have a wide array of magic spells at their command including damage over time spells, direct damage spells (DD’s), and several utility spells. They’re even able to conjure up various items and perform resurrections on fallen players by expending soul shards. They are able to heal themselves via life tap and drain life, and also have several crowd control spells (CC’s) like fear and howl of terror. Since warlocks are able to acquire mounts through quests, they save lots of gold that most other characters have to spend.
Affliction talents are designed to bolster a warlock’s DoT’s, drains, and curses. When farming or raiding, this is an excellent spec to take. It is arguably the best specialization for speed leveling.
The Demonology talent tree is focused on creating more powerful demons and improving your summoning and conjuration spells. For player versus player, this is a really good talent tree. For leveling up, it’s almost as good as Affliction. You’ll be extremely reliant on your demons with this spec.
Destruction talents focus on improving most shadow and fire spells thereby making the warlock a powerful direct damage dealer. With Destruction, it is all about high DPS and massive criticals. This spec isn’t as useful as the other specs at the early levels. Note that Destruction isn’t so great for soloing. Also, it suffers from poor mana efficiency and comes with a heavy dependency on soul shards. However, its very cool watching health bars drop to nothing at lightning speed.
